Bengalla Mine Tailings Upgrade

Revision Zero successfully completed the Bengalla Mine Tailings Upgrade project in the first quarter of 2023. Located in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, approximately 130 km northwest of Newcastle and four kilometres southwest of Muswellbrook, the mine supplies international markets with around 7Mt/year of thermal coal.

Bengalla Mine operates as an open pit mine, extracting coal at a depth of approximately 270 meters using a dragline, trucks, and shovels. The site infrastructure includes a Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), administration and bathhouse facilities, rail loop, and loading facilities. The tailings upgrades at Bengalla Mine involved dewatering, single-stage Dense Medium Cyclone (DMC) and spirals, as well as a two-stage DMC conversion and CHPP upgrade aimed at enhancing stacking capacity and product quality.

Revision Zero managed the project, providing comprehensive 3D modeling services and creating structural steel drawings for approximately 178 tons of structural steel, along with 890 square meters of grating and 433 linear meters of handrails.
