Revision Zero successfully concluded the PIMS Mavis Down project in the second quarter of 2022. situated 139km southwest of Mackay, Queensland, Australia.
The Mavis Down mine historically yielded high-quality HCC64 hard coking coals and PCI coals, known to be on par with products from Stanmore Coal’s existing mines. The open-pit Millennium and Mavis Downs coal mines were recently designated for conversion into underground operations, potentially unlocking an additional 1.2 million tons per year in coal extraction.
The comprehensive redevelopment of PIMS Mavis Down involved infrastructure, civil works, and the construction of locally designed mining equipment. The Primary Air Installation was central to the underground mining setup, a pivotal element ensuring cost-effective operations and a secure ventilation system. Adequate ventilation is paramount for worker safety and the longevity of machinery and equipment within the mine. The primary ventilation system, comprising Primary Fans, facilitates the necessary airflow in and out of the mine, ensuring a safe working environment.
Revision Zero was honoured to be entrusted with this pivotal project, specifically tasked with creating 3D models and fabricating workshop materials for the ventilation ducting, totalling approximately 39 tons.
The Scope of Work for the Project encompasses various crucial components:
- Fan Casing
- Fan Diffuser
- Turning Bend
- Transition Piece
- Isolation Door
- Inlet Duct
- Discharge Diffuser
- Bulkhead Adaptor
- Blast Bend
- Bifurcation
This undertaking stands as a testament to Revision Zero’s commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and expertise in intricate mining infrastructure, contributing significantly to the success of the PIMS Mavis Down Mine redevelopment.
