Revision Zero was commissioned to shop detail the platforms for the third Drier at the Synlait milk powder plant on the Dunsandel site in Canterbury New Zealand.

The third drier tower on the site was completed in July 2015. This 39m tall drier building is capable of manufacturing infant formula, whole milk formula and skim milk formula and has increased the plant’s capacity by 50%. The $25m contract included Powder Packing, Amenities, Tanker Bays, Silo Slabs and a Vitamin Store.

The Te Aroha fabricator had invested in some serious laser cutting equipment and for this project Revision Zero was asked to model the plate flooring and stair treads with tabs and the platform plate stringers with slots. This enabled the fabricator to effectively fully assemble the platforms in the workshop without tack welds or bolting prior to fully welding. This was a new and innovative fabrication practice that worked well and saved time in the fabrication process and allowing full fit up checks before welding.
